Star Wars: Arcann

Recently I was contacted by goatguns.com asking me to look at their products and give my honest opinion. Goatguns.com makes 1/3 scale non-firing gun models for display. For this review, I was sent both the AUG and the M16. Both rifles feature actions and moving parts similar to their real world counterparts and are made of a mix of plastic and metal giving each a fair amount of heft when handling them. The models require assembly via screws and even come with their own small screwdriver in the package. Each also come with their own metal display stands as well. My favorite feature of the goatguns.com rifles are the removable clips that can be loaded with a small mock bullets (also a brass like metal) as well. Of the two guns I received, the difference between the two in terms of quality is night and day with the M16 being the better piece. The M16 features an adjustable scope as well as foregrip both of which can be totally removed and work on the rails just like the real thing. The muzzle screws off and can be replaced with a silencer option as well. Pulling the slide on the rifle even opens the chamber and pushing the clip release really works too. The gun attaches to it’s display stand via a plastic connector piece and it rests at a pleasing angle on the stand.

The AUG looks like it’s real life counterpart as well and features the same cool clip release and metal bullets. The gun features a working slide opening the chamber however, on mine it does not lock into place at all. The sling clips on this also feel very low quality and are showing signs of rust on them. The biggest bummer of all is the the muzzle on this one screws onto the barrel as well and the screw is stripped, the muzzle bent, and it does not line up with the barrel properly. This is something I would take very seriously if I was a collector of these items. Another odd thing is that the gun has a hole drilled into the bottom the clip as well the rifle butt and pegs onto the display stand. The display stand for this one is metal as well but for some reason on one side the word “goatgun” is printed on it and on the other the word “pumped” which in my opinion cheapens the piece.

My final opinion of these rifles is that they are a bit of an oddity as replicas go, as we don’t often see 1/3 scale items. I am 50/50 on the overall quality of the product. I feel as though they are more of a novelty item, like something I would see at a discount store or maybe at the checkout lines more than I would consider them to be a true collectible but that is just my opinion.
